Thunder Legend X Features Fast-Paced Action & Space Shooter Fun

If you enjoy fast-paced space-themed games, Thunder Legend X is definitely one you should check out.
Developed by Purplebeard, this action-packed shooter keeps players on the edge of their seat while dodging enemy ships and bullets.
Concept and Gameplay
The goal of Thunder Legend X is to navigate your ship around the screen by tapping and dragging your finger.
One of the things I really like about the amount of controllability is that you can move your ship anywhere on the screen; you’re not limited to a small area.
As you play the game and hone your spacial awareness, you have a better chance of getting a high score.
Thunder Legend X gives you a variety of ships to choose from, but you start out with one basic ship until you earn enough stars to purchase another.
The game can be a bit frustrating at first, but playing frequently will help you earn enough stars for an upgrade.
When it comes to weaponry, everything in Thunder Legend X is completely automated except for your super weapon and shield. The super weapon can be used once and must cool down before it can be used again.
This is a great way to clear enemies from the screen if you’re overwhelmed.
Features
Thunder Legend X Android Game
Thunder Legend X Android Game
Along with a multitude of ships to choose from, Thunder Legend X allows players to customize their ship by spending stars for upgrades.
Players can upgrade things such as health, weapons, and reduce shield and super weapon cooldown times.
As your ship becomes better, you can survive longer and earn more stars while playing levels.
Thunder Legend X also features a variety of difficulty levels, but you can only access higher difficulty levels only after you’ve upgraded one or two ships.
It does take a while to upgrade a ship, and I’m a little disappointed that higher difficulty levels take a bit of time to unlock.
I also noticed the higher difficulty levels don’t reward players, so there’s little motivation to chase after unlocking them.
Value
Thunder Legend X can be downloaded from Google Play for free and is supported by ads.
Players can optionally purchase star packs via the in-game store, as well as unlock a star multiplier and even god mode.
Overall, Thunder Legend X is an addicting and action-packed space shooter game that’s fun to customize and fairly easy to control.

If you like fast-paced shoot ’em up games we guarantee it’ll keep you entertained for quite awhile.

Photocon

There once was a time when you needed special tools like Photoshop in order to create photos with cool effects.
Now that our smartphones and other portable devices can take care of the task, it’s fun to see what ideas developers come up with for creatively editing photos.
Photocon is a slick photo editing app that lets you quickly and easily connect photos with a few taps of your finger.
This allows you to create completely unique images without much effort at all.
Concept and Functionality
One of the reasons why people tend to shy away from apps like Photocon, from Sergei Solovyev, is that they can be a bit intimidating to use. This is especially true for users who are unfamiliar with photo editing apps or have only used complex tools like Photoshop.
Luckily Photocon is incredibly user friendly and easy to use.
To use it, all you have to do is snap a photo of yourself, someone else, or anything that tickles your fancy. Once the photo is taken, simply swipe your finger on the screen to draw a dividing line for the next photo. Then simply take another photo and voila!
The neat thing about Photocon is that it lets you easily adjust your photo so you don’t have to worry about retaking the same image over and over for the perfect shot. Many similar apps fail to take this into consideration, which frustrates users.
Features
Photocon Android App
Photocon Android App
One of my favorite things about Photocon is the fact that the interface is loaded with features, putting everything the app offers right at your fingertips.
For example, I love the fact that the app allows you to use two individual shutter buttons for the left and right photos. This eliminates the process of having to navigate through menus and screens in order to combine them.
Photocon also allows you to adjust other settings for your photo and even includes basic camera functions like a flash option and a timer.
There are even different photo shooting modes like night mode and distant objects so you can be sure that you’re getting a great picture no matter what the conditions are.
Value
Photocon is available to download from Google Play for free and doesn’t have any ads or in-app purchases to worry about.
Not only is the app a great value, but it’s fun and easy to use.

Overall, I highly recommend giving Photocon a try if you’re looking for a cool and easy way to add a unique twist to your photos!

Controller for Win10 Free

Those of you who were brave enough to upgrade to Windows 10 when it first came out probably noticed a few significant improvements to the operating system.
Controller for Win10 Free is a very cool Android app that lets you access many features of Windows 10 right on your Android device. The app works great and makes the new operating system even more enjoyable to use.
Concept and Functionality
Being able to control your computer from your mobile device certainly isn’t a new concept, but most apps that attempt to do so fail in one way or another.
Judging by the app’s Google Play description, I noticed that Controller for Win10 Free, from Kerim Kaynakci, promised quite a bit as far as functionality and features, but did it deliver?
In short, the answer is a resounding “yes”.
You have to go through the steps of downloading the Windows 10 software to your computer, booting it, starting up the server-side of the app on your pc and connecting to it using the app on your Android. Keep in mind that both your computer and your Android must be on the same wireless network in order for it to work.
Once you’re connected, you can drag your finger across your device’s screen to move your mouse, navigate between windows, perform searches, and much more.
Problems do occur with devices that require connecting via networks, and Controller for Win10 Free offers options for both automatic and manual connections. The app does a good job of walking new users through the process of connecting, though, so hopefully any incurred problems are short-lived.
Features
Controller for Win10 Android App
Controller for Win10 Android App
Controller for Win10 Free offers a plethora of great features that go beyond simple mouse and keyboard manipulation. This includes helpful shortcuts to Windows 10 features such as searches, tiles, and more.
Users can even perform actions using custom gestures within the app. Cortana, the Windows version of Siri and Google voice search, is also easily accessible within Controller for Win10 Free if you purchase the pro upgrade.
On the Windows side, the server for Controller for Win10 Free includes just as many features as the app. This is especially true for customization and fine-tuning everything to your liking.
Value
Controller for Win10 Free is avaialble to download from Google Play for free, and there’s a full version upgrade for $1.99. The pro version offers unlimited voice commands, unlimited custom gestures, extra virtual keyboard keys, the ability to talk to Cortana, power options for remotely shutting down your PC, and much more.
In terms of value, I definitely think the pro version is worth the price given all the additional functionality it provides over that of Controller for Win10 Free to your Windows 10 computer.

The app is stable, easy to use, and should prove to be incredibly helpful if you need a handy way to control your PC.

File Expert with Clouds

File explorers are perfect for users who want to access documents and media on their Android device quickly and easily. This includes files such as photos, music, documents, and more. However, file explorers can be a bit tricky to use.
File Expert is a must-have free file explorer app for Android. Period.
It’s great for anyone who wants more control over the files on their Android device. The app comes with many great tools, as well.
Concept and Functionality
File Expert, developed by GeekSoft, is a very handy app that aims to give users more control over what’s on their Android device.
Installing and setting up the app takes next to no effort and in a few seconds you’ll be able to freely browse everything on your device in a very organized manner.
One of the first things I looked for while testing File Expert was navigation. In past experiences I’ve found file explorers to be clunky and difficult to navigate, but File Expert is pretty easy to figure out once you browse around.
I really like the fact that filetypes are sorted into categories and whatnot, making it easy to find what you’re looking for.
File Expert includes support for a wide variety of cloud storage services, going far above and beyond the standard trio of Dropbox, Google Drive, and Box.
The best part is you can add as many services as you like and you can access them all in one place, which can’t be said about individual apps.
Features
File Expert with Clouds Android App
File Expert with Clouds Android App
File Expert is loaded with awesome features that both casual and power users alike will enjoy.
This includes tools like a secure safebox that’s both password protected and very versatile. This is a great option for people who store sensitive photos of documents and whatnot on their device.
Another great feature is a root explorer, which allows users with rooted devices to access all file system and data directories. Naturally this is a “use at your own risk” feature, but it’s very handy if you’re familiar with the file structure and you don’t want a separate tool to dive into your device.
Value
File Expert is available to download from Google Play for free. If you opt to use the app’s native cloud service and you need more space, GCloud, you can purchase plans via in-app purchase.
Overall, File Expert is an incredibly functional and useful file explorer for Android that comes with many surprises and tools for casual and power users alike.

Not only is it easy to use, but it gives you even more control over your device.

Invasion: Online War Game

Invasion is a strategy game created by the popular top developers “tap4fun” who already produced some magnificent games for both iOS and Android.
I have to say that I had a hard time putting it down, it’s one of the best strategy games that I’ve played in years.
Concept and Gameplay
It is a strategy and a war simulation in one, but also it is a real-time game.
You will compete with other players and you need to build your own empire and military if you want to rule the world. In order to rule the world you can ally with your friends or family members and conquer the world faster.
It is one of the most liked strategy games on Google Play right now. The games has average 4.3 average rating and has over 20k Facebook likes.
The game has the gameplay of the classic strategy games, but goes a step further in graphics, effects and sound track.
The story line of the game just adds up to the whole exciting atmosphere. According to Invasion it is the year 2020 and it is post-apocalyptic era. So, you need to compete with your rivals in order to survive and get the power and domination in this hard and extremely chaotic new age.
The goal of the game is to conquer the world and the game offers wide variety of features that are making Invasion one of the best strategy games at the moment.
Invasion: Online War Game Android Game
Invasion: Online War Game Android Game
First of all you will build anything using resources. You can get this resources naturally by collecting them, or you can attack your enemies and steal it from them.
Graphics and Design
The game looks amazing and stunning on the flagship smartphones and tablets. It is a 3D game and you will be amazed of how some buildings, weapons and planes will look like.
The panoramic map looks stunning! Everything is well thought and graphically appealing. That is why Invasion is first of all a very attractive game.
You can also collect intelligence from them and that can really give you a great advantage over them. Invasion also features important monuments.
You can fight in huge monuments with other players in the so called Monument Wars. You can create diplomatic relationships with your friends or family members that play the game, but also with any other player that you see is fit to be your ally.
Overall Value
Invasion is a well-thought, nicely created and extremely interesting strategy game. It is one of those games that users will love due to originality, graphics, story line and game play.
It has so many interesting features and details that we are sure you will never get bored.
On top of that the game is played real time with other players. You can get allies and compete with other players and that is making the things extremely interesting.

The app is an easy recommendation since it’s free on Google Play. It can offer you hours and days of pure and widely entertaining Android gaming.

The Top 21 Android Apps for College Students

If you’re entering college this fall you well know that your precious phone is also a game console, a book reader, a note taker, a camera, a language translator and last but certainly not least, a computing device that can run all kinds of apps that do incredible things.
According to Neilsen‘s 2014 data, “85% of Millennials aged 18-24 own devices” and “men and women in the U.S. own smartphones almost equally”. You can bet that trend is continuing upward for anyone of college age and we expect campuses to be flooded with smartphones and tablets like never before.
Laptops tend to be more widely used for actual school work but phones and tablets are more frequently used overall and are used more and more for school work, not just entertainment between classes.
So, what can and should be done with all this usage time? Funny you should ask, in this post we cover a lot of ground; note taking, schedule management, study aids and much more.
After all, it’s all about that app (with apologies to Meghan Trainor).drive1
Just continue on down and read about the Top 21 Android Apps that we think every college student should not leave home without.

googledrive2Google Drive – (Free) – Cloud Storage – access to your files anytime, anywhere
Students are likely to use multiple devices while working on a project and group projects are a regular part of college life. Google Drive makes your documents available to you on whatever device you happen to be using and collaborating with fellow students on these projects is a breeze.
Students with a Gmail account already have a Google Drive account and can use the app to create, share and collectively edit presentations, spreadsheets and documents.
Additionally, Drive has its own suite of tools, similar to Microsoft Office, that provide a wealth of functionality: Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawings, and Maps.
Drive is a cloud-based service that provides students with 15GB of free storage for documents, images, music or other files. These files can then be shared and are accessible from any device; iOS, Android, and desktops.
Of course there are quite a few alternate cloud storage options including Dropbox, Box, Microsoft OneDrive, and Amazon Cloud Drive.
Which one is best for you depends on many factors and there’s nothing wrong with using more than one, especially since there are apps, such as File Expert with Clouds, that can easily tie them all together.

googleclassroomGoogle Classroom – (Free) – Improves communication between students and teachers
classroom1If your school uses Google Apps for Education then you should have Google Classroom on your Android device.
It lets you use Classroom on the go and keep you in touch with what’s happening with your classes and assignments.
Teachers can create, review, and grade assignments quickly, all in one place. Students can see all of their assignments on an assignments page, and all class materials are automatically filed into folders in Google Drive.
The overall benefits to keeping it simple while also making sure everyone is on the same page are substantial.

dictionaryDictionary.com – (Free) – Dictionary & Thesaurus
The Dictionary.com app is a must-have for anyone and especially for students. It’s not just for those studying literature or languages either.
As a student you will be constantly exposed to new subjects and information, much of which with it’s own particular vernacular. Don’t be intimidated if you come across a word you’ve never even seen before, just tap on your dictionary.com app and in seconds you’ll have it nailed.
A nice addition is that it also includes a Thesaurus which will help you avoid using the same words over and over again and painlessly expand your vocabulary.

evernoteEvernote – (Free) – Multimedia note taking and sharing
evernote1Evernote is much more than the ultimate note-taking app, Evernote is an entire ecosystem of productivity aids and is perfect for students.
It’s fully cross-platform, with an app for every device and an extension for every browser. PCWorld has a terrific article to help any newbies get the most out of it. The article is a bit dated at this point (2 years old) but does a great job of orienting new users to it’s key functions.
Evernote makes it easier than ever to store your notes, photographs, documents, and other details you may need for class. Students regularly use it to organize the materials associated with specific courses or to retain information that will help throughout the degree experience.
Features like keyword search simplify the process of finding the notes that users need to study, write papers, or quickly revisit critical information.
The Evernote apps synch your notes across all of your devices (iPhone, Windows Phone, Android and desktops) and in doing so really amps up its value. You can use the device’s camera to create a new note by snapping a picture, say, of a classmate’s notes, or the office hours posted on your professor’s door.
Any text visible in any images that you save becomes searchable, and Evernote can also keep track of where each picture was taken. Nice.
Tons and tons of other apps let you save things to your Evernote account—a few of our favorites include LectureNotes, the cross-platform image-annotation tool Skitch, and the incredibly flexible IFTTT.

audionoteAudioNote – ($4.99) – Audio recording synched with written notes
So where do you get your class notes when you just don’t feel like writing or typing? Try AudioNote, a very capable cross-platform recording app that connects your sketches and the notes you take with what you’ve recorded.
The built-in voice recorder can capture your lecture or small-group discussion, while you jot down notes that are automatically synced up to the recording.
Later you can just tap a note to jump to that part of the recording. That means you no longer have to worry about scribbling down everything important that’s said, and you can be more present in the discussion instead of focusing on taking detailed notes.
You can then easily share your notes and audio files together or separately with your study mates using email or cloud storage.

officesuiteOfficeSuite – (Free) – View and edit MS Office and PDF files
office1If you need to create and edit Microsoft Office files (that’s Word docs, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations) and PDF files on the go, OfficeSuite is worth a hard look.
It lets you work on the go using your iPhone or iPad and connects to all popular cloud storage services so wherever you park your files, you’ll be able to access, edit, and share them with this app. No need to download and upload as additional operations either, just open and save just like you would for local files.
It also provides a gallery of templates for Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. If you try the free version and decide it fits your needs, you can upgrade to the “Pro” version for $14.99, currently on sale for $9.99. That’s a one-time full license, not an ongoing subscription as is the case with many highly functional productivity app.
Of course if you don’t need access to edit MS docs, just provide them to others, the suite of free apps from Google, including Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides, do a terrific job.

wolframWolfram Alpha – ($2.99) – A computational knowledge engine covering a broad array of topics
OK, we get that the first thing you do when you have a question is to “google it”. But there are questions that Google just can’t handle very well. That’s where Wolfram Alpha comes in.
Wolfram Alpha is a reference app that curates scientific, technical, mathematical, and other resources.
It covers an amazing number of domains and uses its vast collection of algorithms and data to compute answers and generate reports for you. Parts of Wolfram Alpha are even used in Apple’s Siri assistant.
Sounds like a pretty useful study buddy to us.

mathwayMathway – (Free) – Instant answers to math problems
mathway1This app may not have the best designed UI but its broad range of mathematics ability more than makes up for that shortcoming.
Mathway can not only solve your maths questions but if you subscribe to its service it will also show you how to arrive at the answer with a step-by-step explanation.
The math topics it can handle range from basic math, Algebra and Trigonometry to Calculus, Finite Math and more.
Its breakdown of the solution is especially valuable and can be a great help when you’re trying to master a new topic.

refmeRefMe – (Free) – Citations made easy
Writing research papers is tedious and the most tedious part is making sure you have all of your citations correct. The bibliography page has been know to make strong students weak and weak students cry.
RefMe does a great job of letting you focus on the content and avoid figuring out the nuances of MLA versus Chicago style.
The app allows students to scan the bar code on books and journals, use book/article titles, ISBN numbers or copy and paste a URL to get citations in various styles, including Harvard, American Psychological Association and Chicago style, as well as most school-specific styles.
You can export via email or Evernote, and send work straight to MS Word using the application’s Web platform.

mystudylifeMy Study Life – (Free) – School, homework and exam schedule manager
study1This powerful planner and scheduling app starts by storing your information in the cloud allowing you to synch your schedule across all of your devices.  It then keeps you on track with all of your tasks, from classes to homework to exams.
My Study Life works even when you’re offline and shows you if you have any conflicts in your schedule. It will let you store your exams and supports day and week rotation class schedules.
You’ll never again (unintentionally) miss an assignment deadline, exam or class with its notification feature.

cheggChegg Textbooks & Study Help – (Free) – Cheap textbooks, rentals and study help
A stack of college textbooks can cost more than major surgery. This app will keep your wallet nice and fat: Snap a photo of your book’s barcode or search by title, author or ISBN number, and you’ll save up to 90% on buying it.
Don’t want to buy it? Not a problem, you can rent textbooks or etextbooks as well.
hey’ve also got you covered if you need some study help.
If you don’t see what you need in their library of textbook solutions you can submit your question to the online community of subject experts or even set up an online tutor 24/7.

ankidroidAnkiDroid Flashcards – (Free) – Rote memory drills
ankidroid1If you’ve ever used good old-fashioned flashcards to memorize vocabulary words, foreign language words, historical dates or any other rote memory items you know how valuable that type of practice can be.
Today, apps like AnkiDroid put that concept on steroids by making good use of your phone or tablets immense capability.
AnkiDroid enables you to make digital flashcards to let you study on the go. You can create your own cards or use any of the thousands of free decks available on many topics and in many languages.
During any time that you have a break, simply take out your device and study the flashcards.

pocketphysicsPocket Physics – (Free) – Basics physics concepts and formulae on your phone
If you’re taking physics in high school or college then you know it is a challenging subject.
For most students it takes review and practice with problems to wrap your brain around it and have any hope of a good, or even passing, grade.
Any help is appreciated and this app should be part of your arsenal.

aldikoAldiko Book Reader – (Free) – Access to thousands of ebooks
aldiko1Textbooks aren’t the only books you’ll be reading. With Aldiko you can get to just about any other book that may be assigned to you, or that you just want to read.
This reader has some pretty cool features, is fully customizable, and supports EPUB, PDF formats, Adobe DRM encrypted eBooks, as well as ebooks from public libraries.
While a tablet is going to give you a better overall experience, this app works quite well on phones so if you’re on the train or bus you can catch up on your reading with just your phone.

wikipediaWikipedia – (Free) – Millions of online articles covering every conceivable topic
OK, so you have a paper due and you need to get started on it. Sure the library is a great place to do some research but if you want to get started right now this is the app for you.
You’re probably at least somewhat familiar with the Wikipedia website so this shouldn’t be totally new to you.
The big advantage of the app is that you can access all that amazing content in a phone or tablet friendly format. Makes a big difference in readability on your mobile device.
The good folks at Wikipedia are not content to rest on their laurels, however. As easy as it is to use this app, it has recently undergone a major overhaul to add some great new features and update and improve its UI. Check out the beta release of this major new design.
Either way with this app you’ll be sure to crush that assignment.

anatomyEssential Anatomy 3 – ($9.99) – Human anatomy in beautiful 3D images
anatomy2If you’re a pre-med student you need all the help you can get with understanding all the intricacies of the human body and visualizing how everything connects and works.
A herculean task to be sure but one made significantly easier with today’s powerful hi-res phones and tablets. The question is which of the dozens of anatomy apps is the best one?
Essential Anatomy 3 has won numerous awards and for a mere ten bucks you have an incredible learning tool at your disposal.
Using highly detailed anatomical models coupled with a powerful 3D graphics engine, this app delivers much more than just a nice 3D drawing of muscles and nerves. You’ll be amazed at the interactivity it offers and the impact it will have on your learning curve.
If the $10 for this app is pushing your budget, we suggest you give the free app, Anatomy Learning – 3D Atlas, a try.

moneyMy Money Tracker – (Free) – Track you money to avoid paying late charges and overdraft fees
It’s the last week of the month and your crew is going out for hot wings and brewskis. Can you afford to go?
Keeping a close eye on your finances will make sure you can pay your rent, put gas in your car, and have something left over for fun.
My Money Tracker will make it as easy as possible to keep you in the black and know exactly when you need to hunker down to avoid overdraft fees or be in a position to splurge on those new bluetooth earbuds you’ve been jonesing for.
It has tons of great features including easy to understand graphical displays of key financial data and flexible budget planning.

fitnessMap My Fitness Workout Trainer – (Free) – Track all of your activity and calories to hit your fitness goals
fitness1It’s a good bet that you have a life outside of the classroom and it’s also a good bet that your “other” life includes some type of physical activity.
What’s great about this app is how flexible it is. Fitness is not just about running or any other single activity. It’s about being active and if you’re going to keep it interesting that means a variety of activities such as biking, running, walking and going to the gym.
May My Fitness Workout Trainer helps you keep track of all the various ways you exert yourself (well, almost all of them) and also lets you track your calorie intake. If you’re trying to lose that “freshman fifteen”, or not gain it in the first place, it’s critical to keep track of input and output.
Consuming 2,500 calories a day is fine as long as you’re burning them up, and they’re reasonably healthy calories to begin with.

scoutScoutmob local deals & events – (Free) – Find out where to go and what to do around campus
Pizze again? Why not? It’s cheap, quick, and oh so delicious! Yum! But ok, after pizza three nights in a row, maybe, just maybe, you’re ready for something else.
Scoutmob (somewhat like a Groupon on the go) clues you in to the newest and, more importantly, the most budget-friendly deals at lots of off-campus restaurants.
Whether you’re in a new city or living at home and commuting to college, we guarantee there’s tons of stuff you don’t know about what’s around you. Go explore the neighborhood, you never know what, or who, you’ll discover.
Your GPS-enabled phone gives Scoutmob your all important location and will alert you if there’s a Scoutmob deal on the menu—or if there are better dining discounts in the vicinity.
This is about much more than where to eat cheap, with Scoutmob you’ll also know if there’s anything going on this weekend near you that might be of interest.

barcastrBarcastr – Local Bar Finder – (Free) – Check out the local bar scene and hook up with friends
barcastr1The great thing about Barcastr is that it integrates with Facebook so you can quickly and easily see what your fellow Barcastr friends are up to and make plans to meet up.
But not only that, it also gives you the skinny on what’s happening at a bar you might want to check out. It will show you live male to female ratio and age range at the bar. And to think you used to have to actually go to a bar and give it the once over to know that. Welcome to the 21st Century!
With the instant feedback feature you can see what your friends are saying about it and whether or not you want to check out someplace else.
This app will do just about everything possible to make sure your night out is not wasted, even if you are.

tripadvisorTripAdvisor – (Free) – Find the lowest cost airfare and hotels
At some point you’ll either head home or plan a trip to get away over the break. Why spend more than you have to?
TripAdvisor will give you all the info you need to get the cheapest hotels and airfares, not to mention great restaurants and things to do when you get to wherever you’re going.
With over 225 million reviews and opinions posted, you’ll not only find the cheapest way to get there but you’ll also be up to speed on what other liked and didn’t like.

Of course if it’s a road trip is what you have in mind, we’d like to point you to GasBuddy to make sure you’re saving money at the pump.

Trains, Cars & Games for Kids

Trains, Cars & Games for Kids is a fun and educational app for kids that features plenty of games to enjoy. From puzzles to painting and much more, this app is great for parents and kids who are looking for lots of content in one app.
Concept and Functionality
If your child enjoys a variety of games and activities, Trains, Cars & Games for Kids, developed by Planarsoft, is likely what you’re looking for.
The app features many things to enjoy, from matching games to mazes and math games. This kind of variety is hard to find in one app, and I think kids will enjoy playing with all of the different games.
In terms of usability, Trains, Cars & Games for Kids is very easy to navigate and understand.
One thing I noticed is that games are sometimes confusing because they don’t include instructions, but parents should be able to help their child understand the concepts of the games.
Trains, cars & games for kids Android App
Trains, cars & games for kids Android App

Features
Trains, Cars & Games for Kids includes plenty of helpful features, from being able to adjust game modes to supporting a variety of languages.
The best feature is the Toddler Lock, which locks down the app and prevents children from leaving the app while using it.
One thing I do want to mention is that the free version of Trains, Cars & Games for Kids offers 5 games. In order to unlock 15 additional games, parents will have to purchase the full version upgrade or enable the trial version of the full game, but kids are required to watch an ad before being able to start the game.
As you can imagine, this will likely be a turnoff for parents because kids can tap ads and leave the app, which defeats the purpose of the Toddler Lock feature.
Value
Trains, Cars & Games for Kids is available to download from Google Play for free. In order to unlock all games you’ll have to purchase the full version of the game, Tootooni! for Toddlers & Kids, for $2.99.
Overall, Trains, Cars & Games for Kids is a great app for kids that offers quite a bit for them to do. The big drawback is that only 5 games are available and kids have to watch ads to play other games, but on the plus side it is a way to check out the app at no cost.
I recommend checking out the full version of the game if your child really enjoys playing it.

Top 5 Guitar Apps for Android

If you’ve been a longtime reader here on the site, you’re probably aware of the fact that I’m a bit of a closeted musician. Whenever some MIDI controller or wayward tuner walks across my desk, I’m inordinately excited. It’s always nice to revisit the cold, dark studios from my past. Especially if I can do it from an Android phone without leaving the armchair!
Which brings us to today’s topic du jour: Making the most of your daily shred sessions on the six-stringed guitar. Yup—we’re talking about becoming a righteous axe master.
The musical world isn’t as rife with gold on Android as it is with our iOS cousins. That being said, you’re not without some incredible options. We’ll be detailing our Five Top Guitar Applications for Android here. We’ll bring the apps, and all you need is the string wizardry to go with it!

1. gStrings Tuner: Face it—the very first thing you’re going to want to do is tune up that guitar like it’s a newborn.
You could do this by ear, but if you’re not quite Steve Vai enough to do that yet, we’ll help you out.
gStrings Tuner is our favorite option on Android: it features a well-designed, inviting interface, as well as the kind of chromatic accuracy a stage musician craves.
It works when and how you need it to, even providing specific hertz information.
That’s a solid winner to us! Not to mention the free price tag helps you keep even more of that gig money in your pocket.

2. Guitar Chords and Tabs: We’ll talk more about tablature in just a moment, but if you’re looking for a chordal reference, you’re going to want to stick with this little gem.
The ability to search for specific songs is nice, as is the option to save them for use later.
However, the real kicker here are those diagrams that pop-up beside chordal arrangements.
Not sure how to fret an F#maj7? Not to worry, grasshopper!
With this app, a lot of patience, and a tweed-amp-and-cigarettes vibe, you’ll be Pat Metheny in no time.

3. Guitar Pro: But what if you want to get serious with your arrangements?
What if you need a little more composing rather than consuming of your tablature? Not to worry! Android has you covered with the truly (very, very, very truly) stunning Guitar Pro.
Out of all my life’s regrets, I regret most the fact that Guitar Pro didn’t exist when I was a student. Its sleek, sexy interface enables you to add your own, fully-staffed tabs or notes with the utmost of ease.
No more nights spent laboring over ink and paper. Use the on-screen guitar or the built-in keyboard to succinctly illustrate your shred sessions.
It truly is a wonderful thing to behold.

4. Audio Evolution Mobile Studio: Now that you’ve got your next doom metal track all laid out (or whatever) it’s time to take it to the studio.
Here’s where Android really shows its open-source roots—rock-solid production utilities you can trust aren’t exactly plentiful, at least not compared to the iPhone.
Which is why we’re telling you now: just get Audio Evolution, and don’t ever, ever look back. It’s an absolutely amazing, power-packed utility. We’re just impressed it fits all that junk into your phone’s trunk.
It provides a more-or-less life-like studio recording atmosphere for your noodling.
You’ll get sequencing, mixing, MIDI control, some effects modulation and a whole lot more.
As far as options go, it is heads, tails and feet above the competition.

5. PocketBand Pro: Which makes this awkward, seeing as how we’re going to mention another DAW worth looking at.
PocketBand Pro is a different animal than Audio Evolution, but one still worth a mention. It features a more social approach to music creation, and offers a tighter focus on looping.
It enables you to sample, layer, and produce whole tracks, then share them with the community in a self-supportive way.
It’s a neat idea, and one that in practice is every bit as fun as it sounds.
Add some of your bets guitar wailing, and we imagine you’ll have a real following in no time.
As a final pro-tip, we leave you with this thought: When in doubt, remember that YouTube has launched more than one musical career. Just as a demo tape back-in-the-day could change a studio musician’s life, so too can a solid cover remake your outlook. So go ahead and use that fancy Android camera to snap your use of these apps, and then throw it out on the Web. You never know what might come back!
